UIM class I world championship
The Class 1 World Offshore Championship is a breathtaking spectacle where modern day sea warriors compete for the ultimate glory, the world Championship Trophy.
Eleven 2-man teams, a driver and throttle man, will strap themselves beneath jet fighter canopies to race in pursuit of maximum glory. The boats, 14 meters in length, weighing five tones, and powered by twin 850hp Lamborghini engines, will race, often inches apart, at perilous speeds exceeding 160mph, a spectacle guaranteed to get your adrenalin pumping!!
Class 1 brings together the best racers in the world, leading edge technology and the fastest race boats in the world. It demands the optimum in skill, the ultimate in courage and combines power, excitement, danger and glamour. The 2004 season has attracted 11 boats and competitors from eight countries who will compete in the seventh race World Championship at venues across Europe, Scandinavia and the Middle East.

Formula 2! The name conjures up images of revving engines, excitement, speed and skill; cool calm days, crowds, atmosphere, spills and thrills. What does not immediately spring to mind is the huge potential for companies to gain massive benefit in terms of exposure, goodwill, corporate entertainment and branding. This is just what Formula 2 can offer you and at very modest outlay when set against the brand awareness and publicity generated.
Formula 2 is a widely embraced regional event with an international flavor, which attracts a very strong field of UAE National drivers as well as those from the GCC, European and Asian countries. Because of the strong UAE and GCC field, the sport has a huge following locally and regionally and is covered in full by all the main Arabic and English press (producing hundreds of column inches) and local TV.
Furthermore, because Formula 2 is a staging ground for promotion to Formula 1 (which itself attracts massive regional and International exposure for the drivers and host cities), it is a sport fully and passionately championed by all segments of the local community and most especially by the Rulers and governments of each metropolis hosting the event.
This is particularly true in the case of the opening round in Dibba and Formula 2 is very fortunate to have the strong and unequivocal support of His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi.

Dubai Rowing Championship
Fujairah Traditional Rowing Race
The rowing boat, selected for this sport, was originally used as a fishing boat up until the middle of the century. It was used f inshore fishing- up to 2, nautical miles offshore.
Before the introduction of motor boats, the same rowing boat was used as an “Abra” in the Dubai Creek to transport people from one side of the creek to the other.

The legendary Arabic sport The dhow sailing races are without doubt the most spectacular and graceful. In keeping with tradition, all dhows gather at the starting line and, on the starter's flare, hoist their sails almost instantaneously to illuminate the coastline in a blaze of white.
The dhows are all designed in exactly the same fashion as those used by the pearl sailors of yesteryear with the races divided into two classes of 43ft and 60ft. Competitors have to abide by strict rules drawn up by race organisers, the UAE Marine Sport Federation (MSF) who are responsible for organising all of the traditional races.
The boat's hull, or "Haikal" must be made of Al Saay wood. Although competitors are allowed to varnish the dhow, painting the interior or exterior is strictly prohibited. It is also strictly against the rules to use fibreglass in the construction of the hull, although it can be used in strengthening the outer part of the mast, or "Al Dukal".
The huge sails are made from silk or nylon fabric and various colours are permitted, few stray away from the traditional white though.
In keeping with tradition, all dhows have to be equipped with four oars, but they must not be used during the race. Mother Nature provides the only assistance to the sailors in the unpredictable form of wind that either fills the sails, or leaves the boats stranded in calm seas.
All races cover a specified distance in nautical miles on a particular course chosen. These can alter depending on the weather conditions prevailing on the day of the race.
